Etching Without Acid

Beginning level class, 6:00 to 9:00 PM on Wednesday, May 26th, 2010
Etching without Acid: Learn this family and pet safe way to etch copper, brass, and nickel in your home or studio. Demonstration of resists and applications for etching metal will be covered. Discover the best application for PnP (Press and Peal) Blue paper resist. Pre-applied resist will be used for this workshop. Students need to bring their own old cell-phone charger to recycle for this class.

Cold Connections for Stone Setting

Beginning to Intermediate skill level, Saturday and Sunday, August 21 & 22, 2010
Cold Connections for Stone Setting: In this fun project based workshop we will be making pendants or rings. Beginning jewelry level skills are a prerequisite. Students will learn the 4 basic rivet styles and 2 styles of tabs. Students will then apply those cold connections to make pendants and rings. Explore the use of cold connections for integrating non-traditional or fragile components into your jewelry making. Tools demonstrated will be: circle cutter, hydraulic press, dividers, brass slide gauge, and two styles of hammers . Flex shaft and bur use will be stressed for precision stone setting. (Material Kit provides CZs, cabochons, setting burs and metal)

Skill Advancement for Jewelers

intermediate level, Saturday and Sunday July 31 & August 1, 2010, 10:00AM to 5:00PM
Make this workshop an exploration of pushing your jewelry making skills to the next level. Sequencing of multi-layered projects for greater refinement of craftsmanship, planning jewelry designs for linear work progression, and incorporating the use of gold accents are explored.

Manufacturing techniques for cleaner final results, pre-polishing, production options, and finishing tips will be presented. Overlay techniques, edging, piercing, and beginning filigree are projects can be made in this class. Intermediate level jewelry skills are optimal. Students are encouraged to bring their own designs and ideas.
